  12. WHY DO YOU NEED THE ACCENT CONVERTERS?
  13.  
  14. Typing accented characters on the Macintosh is pretty easy. Characters like Ž, , Ÿ, – can be typed in any application with just a couple keystrokes. On the Web, however, accented characters are encoded with clumsy strings of text, like é or ñ . The codes aren't that hard to remember, once you learn them, but typing them is time-consuming and error-prone.

The HTML Accent Converters let you type accents the usual way as you are creating your HTML pages. Or you can copy existing text from QuarkXPress, Pagemaker or other software into your HTML pages. Then, when your pages are ready to go online, you can convert all the accents in a single stroke.

  18. You can also use the Accent Converters to convert the Web encodings back to standard Macintosh keystrokes. This is useful if you download information from the Web that you want to incorporate in a word processing or desktop publishing program.

  21. HOW TO USE THE ACCENT CONVERTERS

Select the HTML pages or folders of HTML pages that contain the accents you want to convert. The pages must be saved in standard TEXT format (almost all HTML editors save their documents as text). Drag the pages onto the HTML Grinder icon. Then double-click on the Accent Converter wheel icon you want to use. When the wheel window opens, just click the "Convert Accents" button to convert all accents in all your pages at once.

  26. WHICH ACCENT CONVERTER SHOULD YOU USE?

  28. Four Accent Converters are included:

  30. ･ All Accents to HTML - Converts all accents to their HTML codes
  31.  
  32. ･ HTML to All Accents - Converts HTML code for all accents back to their Mac equivalents. Works exactly like the above Converter only in reverse.

  34. ･ Common Accents to HTML - Converts only the 22 most common accents to their HTML codes. This wheel searches for the characters used in French, German and Spanish and does not search for capital letters. This wheel will serve your purposes for many documents and runs much faster because it is searching for fewer characters. However, if your documents use accents which are not included in this Accent Converter, they will not be converted unless you use the "All Accents to HTML" Converter.

  39. MAKING YOUR OWN CUSTOM GLOSSARIES

  41. The HTML Accent Converters are a customized versions of the HTML Grinder's standard Glossary plug-in wheel. The Glossary wheel lets you save multiple Find-and-Replace entries and apply them all at once to your entire Web site.
